Mid Power Rocketry is typically the use of engines size
E through to G impulse. Although mid power rockets arent any more complex
necessarily to build than model rockets, they do involve higher powered motors
and therefore typically require some different build techniques and glues.
The main supplier of mid power rocket engines are Aerotech and Congreve.
The cost of a typical mid power rocket can be anything from
£25 to £100 depending on type and manufacturer. The cost of a motor ranges from
£7 to £30 depending on size, type and manufacturer.
As from the Dec 2007 you are allowed to store AP motors in your 5Kg allowance.
So in broad terms that means you can store up to 5Kg of net propellant of any combination of
rocket motors (BP or AP) and associated items (fuses, quickmatch etc), as long as no single
rocket motor is greater than 1Kg of net propellant.
Whats Next?
I guess High Powered Rocketry is the next logical step if
you havn't gone big enough or powerful enough.
