At 13:10 on the 26th August 2007, Corpulent Stump launched into the sky at the
International Rocket Week 2007 in Scotland.
The 12 ft tall rocket built by Richard Brown of Rocket Store for his Level 3 UKRA certification flight, soared
into the sky on an Aerotech N2000 White Lightning motor reaching 5912 feet and a maximum velocity of 469 mph.
The rocket is almost certainly the largest rocket in the UK to use the Rouse Tech CD3 gas ejection system, this
together with twin RDAS flight computers, allowed a perfect deployment of the main Rocket Rage parachute.
As far as we are aware, this is the most powerful amateur rocket flown on an Aerotech engine in the UK and
the first Level 3 certification done in the UK on an N motor.
Our thanks go out to
Gary at Aerotech
, Tom at Rouse Tech
, Frank/Kim at PML
, Jeroen/Martyn at AED
and also Rocket Rage
and AeroPack for the top class products we used in this rocket.
We would also like to thank many other people who were involved in the launch, far too many to mention
everyone here, but thanks to Phil Bratley, Michael Cain and Pete Williams fellow club members for all their help. Also to
UKRA for supporting us, but most of all for John Bonsor for organising yet a
marvellous IRW event. Without these people putting in so much time, there would be nowhere for us to fly.
Many thanks again and see you next year John with something a little bigger!
