Shipping Dangerous Goods
There are many regulations which govern the shipping of dangerous goods. At
Rocket Store we have been doing this for a few years and have built up a wealth
of knowledge on shipping hazardous goods. We will comply with all the
regulations in order to ensure your items are shipped to you legally.
Correct Packaging
All explosives must be shipped in suitable UN 4G boxes. These are special boxes
manufactured and tested to UN standards and deemed suitable for the transportation
of dangerous goods. Boxes support different weights and the number on the side of
the box will indicate the weight the box is suitable for. e.g. a box with the
marking UN 4G/X5/S/02 can support 5Kg of items inside. The number after the X
denotes the weight limit of the box.
Correct Labelling & Documentation
The Carriage of Dangerous Goods regulations require shippers to label and mark the
box with suitable stickers and labels in accordance with the relevant ADR
regulations. Additional documentation is also required for courier drivers and
emergency services.
Suitable Courier
Most couriers will NOT take hazardous goods, and just a handful will take
explosives. To our knowledge, the only couriers that allow Class 1.4S Explosives
are NightFreight and TNT. Large
AP motors which are Class 1.4C and 1.3 can only been sent through TNT by companies
who have been approved for dangerous goods shipping. We are very fortunate to be
one of those companies.
If you purchase motors from any supplier, the above should be followed, if they don't, then they
may be breaking the law and subject to prosecution.
